Man who attacked WIBW employees convicted in jail assault

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A Topeka man who was jailed for attacking employees of a Topeka television station in 2012 was convicted Friday of assaulting a corrections officer.

Ray Miles, 57, was convicted of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery and battery against a corrections officer, WIBW reported.

Prosecutors said Miles attacked Shawnee County corrections officer Kourtney Flynn on July 31, 2019, while Flynn was trying to retrieve a cordless phone from his cell.

A court affidavit said Miles pushed Flynn to an isolated area of the jail and tried to stab her several times with a pen bef...
