2021 Great American Conference Coaches Poll announced for volleyball

Alva, Oklahoma – The 2021 volleyball season is just a few weeks away as the Great American Conference has released its annual coaches preseason poll on Thursday afternoon. The Rangers will open their season on Friday, Sept. 3, in San Angelo, Texas, playing in the Angelo State's tournament to start the year.
"I'm excited to see the conference rankings today. Not that I have a true opinion of our position, but it excites me to see that we are truly back and ready to play a full season," head coach Fred Aubuchon stated.
In the spring season of 2021 the Rangers finished in third place in the Western division and tied for the fifth best conference record overall finishing the year at 9-6 overall with a 5-5 GAC record.
Northwestern was voted fifth in the conference in this poll receiving 79 points in the preseason poll. The 79 is below Southwestern with 92 points, while the Rangers are voted right in front of Henderson State with 72.
The Bison of Oklahoma Baptist was voted first in the preseason poll collecting 10 of the 12 first-place votes with a total of 120 points. Harding University picked up the other two votes with a total of 112 votes.
Arkansas Tech (95) comes into the season projected third, followed by Southwestern (92) four and the Rangers(72) at five, rounding out the top five teams in the conference based on the coach's poll.
The Rangers are followed by Henderson State (72) in sixth Southern Nazarene (54), and Arkansas Monticello (46) placed seventh and eighth respectively.
The conference rounds out with East Central (40), Ouachita Baptist (35), Southeastern (33), and Southern Arkansas (14).
The Red-and-Black will play a total of 30 matches, with 16 conference matches being played, starting with the home opener on September 14th against Southeastern to open conference play.
