The Woods County Senior Citizens Center in Alva has experienced a number of trials lately. The center is the location for subsidized meals for senior citizens through the Southwest Oklahoma Development Authority.

When Covid-19 shut down the center, meals were distributed to the homebound and as carry-outs. Once things returned to a more normal schedule, the center learned in July that state funds, based on county population, have been reduced.
