I hope you had fun with all the activities around

September 5, 2021

We are at the midpoint of the Labor Day weekend. If you don't have anything planned after church, take your sweetie on a trip to the car show in Kiowa, Kansas. You will have to hurry, though, because it ends at 3 p.m. I have been up there several times and it is always fun. Monday will also get you free food in Kiowa.

There were several help wanted ads in the Newsgram on Wednesday. Some of them require some skills and all had drug test requirements. Everywhere I go there are help wanted signs. I don't know where all the employable folks have gone. I usually can find guys that want to work as day laborers at the salvage, but they are in short supply. One plan would be to ask all people coming into the country what they can do, then deliver them to a job somewhere. Makes them productive citizens, and gets employers much needed knowledgeable help.

I went to the doctor a week ago Friday. It was a good news/bad news kind of trip. I felt really bad, and he said I was negative for Covid-19 but had a cold. It was my second negative reading for the day. I had undergone intelligence tests in the morning, and they came back negative, too. After looking at me, the doctor said, "Don't eat anything fatty." I said, "Like bacon and burgers?" He said "No fatty, don't eat anything!"

I know how it will all end for me, anyhow. One of the grandkids will unplug my life support machine to charge their phone. Say it ain't so!

I was watching an old Annie Oakley and there was a rancher named Scribner. I don't think we are related because he was a crook.

Bubba said God originally was going to make the world flat, but in a little bit there wouldn't have been anything left after the cats had pushed it all over the edge.

Fun fact: It is a lot easier to be a boy named Sue in 2021 than it was in 1969 when Johnny Cash sang about him.

A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist see light at the end of the tunnel. A realist sees a freight train. The train driver sees three idiots standing on the tracks!

Let's all be safe out there and God bless.
