Dear to my family, I have a 78 rpm record that my mother and Aunt Carrie made in the ‘40s. There were record-making machines available and they had one “cut.”

The first phonograph was invented in 1877 and used a cylindrical disk. It was called a gramophone. My grandparents (Chaffee) had one in their attic, which I enjoyed when visiting them in the ‘50s.
