Woods County commissioners set next year's meeting dates

County holidays for 2022 approved

The Woods County commissioners are already planning for next year’s schedule. They approved the meeting dates and the county holiday dates for 2022 at Monday’s meeting.

Thirteen dates are on the holiday list including Jan. 17 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; Feb. 21 President’s Day; April 15 Good Friday; May 30 Memorial Day; July 4 Independence Day; Sept. 5 Labor Day; Oct. 10 Columbus Day; Nov. 11 Veterans Day; Nov. 24-25 Thanksgiving; Dec. 26-27 Christmas and Dec. 30 New Year’s Eve.

The meeting dates are generally on Mondays except for three, which were moved to handle important things like signing paychecks.

The following monthly reports were approved:

Assessor Collections $ 291.00

County Clerk Office Collections $12,757.51

Court Clerk Office Balance $58,310.56

Court Clerk RM & P Balance $6,812.76

Election Board Balance $5,355.38

Health Dept. Collections $850.00

Sheriff’s Office Collections $3,114.04

Board of Prisoners Expenses $3,498.05

Treasurer’s Office Balance $27,511.86

The maintenance agreement for a new copier in the county clerk’s office was approved with Standley Systems for just 0.99 cents per mono (black and white) page.


Approval was given for use of the courthouse lawn and stage for NWOSU Homecoming on Oct. 9.

The commissioners approved an application submitted by Deputy David Cummings in the sheriff’s office for the JAG grant. If approved, the grant would pay for six defibrillators for $9,270 and six AED carrying cases at $76 each.

A materials request was approved for chip and seal materials from Circuit Engineering District 8. The $60,000 of materials would be divided among the three commissioner districts.


A floodplain permit was approved for Navigator Borger Express LLC c/o Prairie Environmental LLC.

Under new business, Commissioner John Smiley said the state wildlife commission visited the Avard Lake project and approved $18,600 in reimbursements.

The commissioners also approved blanket purchase orders, warrants and claims.
