Woods County Covid-19 cases decrease by 32

Active Covid-19 case numbers have decreased by 32 this week. The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) report on Sept. 15 showed Woods County with 40 cases, down from the 72 reported on Sept. 8. The report also showed one additional death in the county.

Numbers are also down in the state with 23,533 active cases on Sept. 15 compared to 27,332 a week ago. However, 76 of the state's 77 counties are now at the orange risk level, none are at the yellow level, and one (Harmon County) is in the lowest green risk level.

The three-day average of hospitalizations lists 1,281 patients including 38 in pediatric beds. Of that number 360 are in ICU beds. In health department District 1, which includes Woods County, there are 38 people hospitalized for Covid-19 with ten in the ICU.

In Woods County, Alva has 34 active cases, down 22 from a week ago, and one additional death. Dacoma has one case, down one from last week. Freedom Covid-19 numbers decreased from 10 last week to five this week. Waynoka is listed with zero active cases compared to four last week. Bill Johnson Correctional Center in Alva still has no Covid cases, according to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University shows two students and no staff members with Covid-19 as of Friday, Sept. 10. That report covers all three campuses in Alva, Enid and Woodward.

In surrounding counties, Alfalfa County has ten active cases, down six from last week. Harper County increased from one to four. Major County is down three at 34 with one additional death. Woodward County increased by 18 to 64 with one additional death.
