Woods County Covid-19 cases down slightly

Woods County active cases of Covid-19 have decreased by four this week, according to information released Wednesday, Sept. 22, by the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH). The report shows Woods County with 36 active cases, down from 40 last week.

Statewide active cases have also decreased with 20,093 as of Wednesday, down 3,440. The risk level map shows 76 counties at the orange level with Ellis County in yellow.

In Woods County, Alva has 32 active cases, down two from last week. Dacoma is at zero cases. Freedom decreased by three with only two active cases listed. Last week, Waynoka had zero but this week that number increased to five. Bill Johnson Correctional Center in Alva still has zero cases.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University lists three student cases and one employee with Covid-19 on their Sept. 17 report. Those cases are a total from the three campuses at Alva, Enid and Woodward.


In neighboring counties, Alfalfa County increased by four to 14 this week. Harper County jumped by 19 cases at 23. Major County increased by two to 36. With 94 cases, Woodward County increased by 30 from a week ago.

In hospitalizations, OSDH District 1, which includes northwestern counties, lists a three-day average of 45 in the hospital with 12 in ICU. The state total of hospitalizations is 1,149 with 33 of those being pediatric beds. The statewide three-day average shows 328 patients in the ICU.
