NORTH NEWTON, Kansas – Northwestern Oklahoma State men's cross country ran in their third meet of the season on Saturday morning, apart of Bethel College's meet they were hosting. Northwestern would place in second place this morning with a score of 40 after Victor Kibet finished second in the race overall as well.

This is the first time the Rangers have finished as high as second place for runner-up in a meet since Northwestern has switched to Divison II for the highest finish in the Division II era.

"The teams have performed well in the past, but today we saw the team showed signs of a great team coming together. They performed well as a unit. Not everyone is going to have the best day at the same time they pulled together and were able to still get the job done. That shows promise for our future ahead," stated head coach Jill Lancaster.

The Rangers completed the race in second after Butler CC took first place with a score of 38, followed by the Rangers at 40 and Bethel (Kansas), finishing with a score of 44.

The Saturday race would be an 8-kilometer race (4.97 miles) where the Rangers would have seven players finish with a score.

"There were a lot of men that stepped up to the plate today and showed that they have a lot of promise in the future. Our pack will get stronger as the season progresses," state coach Sterlin Broomfield
