Freedom town board swears in new member Shelite
September 30, 2021
The Town of Freedom Board of Trustees swore in its newest member, Michelle Shelite, at a special meeting held Monday, Sept. 20. A special election for a run-off between previous trustee Shad Brackin and Shelite resulted in Shelite's election. At the Sept. 20 meeting, Shelite read aloud the Oath of Office and the Loyalty Oath.
Shelite brings the total number of town trustees back up to three. The other trustees are Kama Luddington and Matt Bixler. Town Clerk Cindy Reed was also present at the meeting.
Bixler made a motion, seconded by Shelite, that Luddington be named the town's mayor. The motion passed. Luddington had been acting as mayor since Shad Brackin's resignation soon after the regular election.
The only other business held at the special meeting was whether to approve the Blue Mark gas pricing contract. That item was approved.
