A stop sign and the adjacent Northwestern Oklahoma State University retaining wall were damaged by a motor vehicle Saturday, Sept. 25. The driver is now facing two misdemeanor charges.

According to court reports, on Sept. 25 at 11:50 a.m. Woods County Undersheriff Keith Dale responded to a report of a hit and run at the southeast corner of 8th and Oklahoma Boulevard in Alva. The reporting person said a red older model Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, striking the stop sign. It then left the scene and continued south on 8th Street.
