Oct. 3-9 is 4-H Week in Woods County

October 6, 2021

Monday the Woods County Commissioners signed a proclamation for 4-H Week in the county. This is also National 4-H Week. Susan Holliday, 4-H educator with the OSU Extension Office, said the county 4-H has 177 members with three clubs and two Cloverbud clubs. There are two special interest clubs, shooting sports and robotics. This week each of the three county clubs has planned activities with a Saturday fundraiser lunch to be held after the NWOSU Homecoming Parade in Alva.

Present for the meeting were Commissioners Randy McMurphy, David Hamil and John Smiley. County Clerk Shelley Reed was also present.

On Feb. 24, 2020, the commissioners set the right-of-way entrance application fee at $500. At this meeting, on the recommendation of the DA’s office, they voted to ratify this fee and clarify it with all parties.

Emergency Management Director Ethan Feidler attended the meeting to present his EMPG 999 Grant fourth quarter report. It was approved by the commissioners.

Smiley read the report from Invenergy for the Sundance Wind Project in Woods County. The report detailed amounts spent for reconditioning and repairing any damage to county property and roads for a total of $681,000. The close out of the road maintenance and repair agreement was accepted.

The commissioners approved the following monthly reports:

Assessor Collections $157.00

County Clerk Office Collections $18,309.58

Court Clerk Office Balance $54,445.20

Court Clerk RM & P Balance $7,132.26

Election Board Balance $4,135.42
