Bearcats beat Red Devils

The Mooreland Bearcats beat the Texhoma Red Devils Friday night, extending their record to 5 – 0.

Duke Morris (#73) takes charge on the defensive line and breaks past the Red Devil defender. Mooreland beat Texhoma 24 to 14.

The game started with a quick touchdown for Mooreland when quarterback Carter Sampson kept the ball and ran over 30 yards to put the Bearcats within the 5-yard line. On the next snap Sampson scored. Stetson Roper (#24) scored 2 points and the score was 8-0 with 11:30 left in the first quarter.

Mooreland scored once more in the half when Sampson, on defense, intercepted the ball and ran it over 35 yards to the end zone scoring 6; the 2-point conversion was good and the score read 22-0 at half-time.

Mooreland kept Texhoma out of the end zone during the first half. Texhoma made their first points late in the third quarter when a Red Devil picked up a fumble and ran it into the end zone. At the end of the third, the score was Mooreland 22 and Texhoma 6.

Texhoma would score one more time late in the fourth, leaving the final score 22 to 14.


Mooreland meets Merritt on the road this (Thursday) evening beginning at 7 p.m. The next home game is Friday, Oct. 22, against Fairview. The game begins at 7 p.m.
