Three people from Woodward and one from Mooreland were injured in a single-vehicle wreck Wednesday in Dewey County.

Dominic Ortega Benites, 44, of Woodward, was driving a 2019 Ford F250 pickup southbound on US-183. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Benites was apparently sleepy, and the vehicle departed the roadway to the right striking a concrete culvert.

The wreck occurred at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday at the junction of US-183 and OK-47W, approximately two miles south of Putnam.

Benites was transported by helicopter to OU Medical in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in stable condition with head, trunk internal and leg injuries.

Three passengers were also injured. Michael James Morton, 43, of Woodward, was transported by ambulance to Alliance Health in Clinton and then transferred by helicopter to OU Medical in Oklahoma City. He was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal, arm and leg injuries.

Timothy Russell Coleman, 42, of Woodward, was transported by helicopter to OU Medical in Oklahoma City. He was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal and leg injuries.

Melinda Isabel Rucker, 30, of Mooreland, was transported by ambulance to OU Medical in Oklahoma City. She was admitted in stable condition with an arm injury.

None of the occupants of the pickup was wearing a seatbelt.
