Special speakers visit the school library
November 4, 2021
The Freedom School library was the place to be twice in the last couple weeks. On two different occasions the library was the venue for inspirational speakers.
On Oct. 22 Brandon Baumgarten had the students up and working together. Teamwork was a theme and also the word "affect." Affect is a verb – "to affect" – meaning to influence or have an impact on something. He really wanted the students 7-12 to remember that their actions affect somebody in some way all the time.
Another speaker during Red Ribbon Week spoke to the 7-12 grades about alcohol and drug abuse. Her testimony was strong and if the students didn't stop and think twice about what she said, this librarian would be extremely surprised. Emotions were over the top for some. We need to thank Ms. Contreraz's Leadership class for asking her to share with us.
