With much regret, I made the difficult decision to stop publishing The Freedom Call. Like other businesses, our resources have been strained in recent years, first through the death of Publisher Lynn Martin in 2019. Then came the coronavirus pandemic of 2020. Now prices for everything are skyrocketing.
Happily, Valerie Brown of Freedom contacted me about purchasing the newspaper. She actually worked on the Freedom Call years ago. After a time away pursuing other career interests, she is back to make Freedom her home.
I’m very happy we can hand over The Freedom Call to such a capable person. She has lots of ideas and plans. The whole thing caught her by surprise so she plans to delay her first issue a couple of weeks, but I’m sure you’ll soon be seeing the results of her hard work.
We’ve met a lot of wonderful people in Freedom and plan to continue providing some coverage of Freedom events in the Newsgram. As we did before purchasing The Freedom Call, we will continue covering school board meetings in the Newsgram.
This will be our final issue, but you can look forward to future issues under new ownership.
Marione Martin,
Publisher
