Airport Commission approves five-year improvement plan

During their Monday meeting, the Alva Airport Commission approved a 5-year capital improvement plan (CIP) totaling over $2.6 million. The airport would be responsible for $166,667 in matching funds for that period. Before voting, airport commissioners discussed the plan with Toby Baker, engineer with Parkhill, on speakerphone.

Currently the airport is in the construction phase of an apron expansion project. This expands the concrete area near the airport terminal to provide more parking room for aircraft. Phase II of the apron expansion beginning with the design has been scheduled for federal...
