Woman pleads guilty in 2020 shooting death of Wichita man

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A woman has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the 2020 shooting death of a Wichita man in a deal with prosecutors.

Amber Ahrens, 42, of Wichita, also pleaded guilty Tuesday to criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, television station KAKE reported. Prosecutors had earlier charged Aherns with those counts, as well as possession with intent to distribute opiates.

Police have said the shooting happened June 17, 2020, when officers responded to a report of a fight with shots fired at a northeastern Wichita home. Arriving officers found 53-year-ol...
