November Rotary Students of the Month honored

November Rotary Students of the Month - Austin Reed, Rotarian John Ryerson, Mattie Pettus.

Austin Hunter Reed

Austin is the son of Jerrod and Cindy Reed. High school activities include student council representative, Superintendent's Leadership Class, FFA ,4-H, Key Club, baseball, basketball, football, Health Occupations Students of America and Business Professionals of America. Activities outside of school are Team Oklahoma Basketball and lots of work.

Austin is employed at the Corner Stop in Freedom, Oklahoma. He plans on attending Oklahoma State University majoring in Applied Exercise Sciences and then attend a specialized school for occupational or physical therapy.

The best advice he can give to a freshman is, "Stay on top of everything you do to allow yourself the time and freedom of enjoying memories that will last forever." His personal philosophy is, "Some people insist on making life difficult, just keep it simple and be yourself."

Mattie Nicole Pettus

Mattie is the daughter of Jason and Tina Pettus. High school activities include FFA reporter (2020-2021), vice president (2021-2022), Key Club vice president (2019-2021), president (2021-2022), FCA worship leader (2019-2022), National Honor Society president (2021), Oklahoma Honor Society, junior class treasurer (2020-2021), Superintendents Leadership Class (2020-2021). Activities outside of school include being a member of the Alva First Baptist Church and a youth member at First Baptist Church.

Mattie is employed by Diamond P Catering. She plans on attending the Oklahoma State University majoring in plant and soil sciences.

The best advice she can give a freshman is, "Step out of your comfort zone and do not be afraid to try something new." Her personal philosophy is, "Be kind and courteous to everyone."
