The most transparent redistricting process in our history

Last week, the Legislature met in special session to complete our work passing updated maps for all legislative and congressional districts. Under the law, we must keep those districts as close to the same population size as possible. In order to do that, every 10 years following the completion of the U.S. Census, we use that data to redraw the maps to account for population changes. For example, as a result of the 2010 census, each of our 48 Senate districts had just over 78,000 citizens. As a result of the 2020 census, the target population for each of our 48 state Senate districts grew to 8...
