Funeral services for Kelly Schlarb will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ron Pingelton officiating. There will be a private family interment at the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Kelly LaVell Schlarb, son of Elizabeth Ann “Susie” (Copenhaver) Schlarb and the late Glenn Alfred Schlarb, was born June 28, 1963, at Alva, Oklahoma, and passed away surrounded by the ones he loved November 27, 2021, after battling cancer at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 29 days.

Kelly grew up in Alva and attended the Alva Public Schools where he graduated with the class of 1981. After graduation he continued working for the family business, Schlarb Welding, and eventually took over. On September 27, 1985, he was united in marriage to Vicki Reed. To their marriage they had three daughters.

Kelly took pride in his family, especially his grandchildren. He spent his time fishing, hunting and looking for good deals at flea markets. He enjoyed metal detecting and family vacations.

Kelly is preceded in death by his father, Glenn Schlarb; his half brother, Glenn Schlarb Jr .; grandson, Chance Powell Jr .; and father-in-law, Joe Reed.

Kelly is survived by his wife, Vicki; his mother, Susie Schlarb; three daughters, Brandi and David Peace of Alva, Megan and Nico Lopez of Broken Arrow, Kelli Brianna and Chance Powell of Alva; one brother, Steve Schlarb; eight grandchildren, Alexa, Taytum, Trace, Gage, Che, Joey, Vada and Corbin. He has one nephew that he cared for as his son, Jeremiah Schlarb and family of Alva; and numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alva Elementary Schools, he was a kid at heart and had a love for his community.
