Anti-vaccination is nothing new.

In 1796 when Edward Jenner developed the smallpox vaccine that helped to eliminate the disease worldwide, mandatory vaccination laws were passed in England, leading to the first anti-vaccine protests. According to an article in The American Legion Magazine, polio vaccinations in the ‘50s led to contamination by one pharmaceutical company and 70,000 mild cases of the disease.
