Alva woman injured in rollover

Shatora Renae Lyles, 19, of Alva, was injured in a one-vehicle rollover in Woods County on Thursday, Dec. 16.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the wreck occurred at 5:20 p.m. near County Road 490 and Dewey Road, approximately one and one-half miles north and one-half mile west of Dacoma.

Lyles was driving a 1997 GMC Suburban when she lost control on the dirt road. The vehicle departed the roadway to the right, rolling two and one-half times, and coming to rest on its roof. Lyles was ejected during the roll.

Lyles was transported by AirEvac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where she was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal and head injuries.

According to the OHP report, Lyles was not wearing a seatbelt. The cause of the wreck is listed as unsafe speed for the type of roadway.

Trooper Randy McCullough investigated, assisted by the Woods County Sheriff’s Office, Alva Fire and Rescue, Alva EMS and AirEvac.
