Let's study the Bible

January 7, 2022

This past year we read through the Bible. We read about 40-50 pages per week and did not really spend much time on lessons to be learned. For the next few weeks, we will go back and think a little deeper about what we have read.

Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” establishes that God is the Creator of all things. It establishes that God existed before the beginning of creation. Imagine all that this implies: the immense power and authority to speak things into existence, the wisdom and creativity to establish laws of physics and nature, and to design such intricate forms of life that function together.

John 1:1. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The Word referred to here is Jesus Christ. “All things were made through Him” and “In Him was life.” Without Him nothing was made. Is it any wonder that Jesus could calm the seas, walk on water, heal the sick, and raise the dead? His power existed before the creation.

John wrote in Revelation “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things.” Isaiah 45:8 “For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens, and formed the earth, ‘I am the Lord and there is none other.”

It is important that we recognize who God is and who we are. The Bible makes it clear from the beginning, God is creator of all and as John said He is worthy of glory and honor. Learning the nature of God, and his plan for mankind is our challenge.
