King Solomon's mines

King Solomon was a biblical character known for wealth and knowledge. Throughout history, his mines are believed to be the source of his riches.

To the uninitiated, the area appears to be one of isolation, a sweltering flatland marked by stark cliffs known as Solomon’s pillars. Three thousand years ago it was bustling with activity, and today the cliffs themselves are pockmarked with tunnels dug with bronze chisels and graffitied with hieroglyphic art of a lost civilization.

But where was his fortune to be found? Was it gold or silver? No, copper. Copper then, as today, is a valued mine...
