Burlington introduces junior high baseball

This year Burlington is offering junior high baseball for the first time. It is one way for the students to have more opportunities during the school year. Softball and baseball for all grade levels were approved, but the sign-up resulted in junior high baseball being the only one that had enough to play.

Looking back at past yearbooks indicated the last high school baseball team at Burlington was in 1999. There are no records to date that indicated there was ever a junior high baseball team.

Coach Gerrett Spears will begin practices after basketball season is over. The boys will have a short game schedule due to competition with track and field. Games will be from March 24 to April 12. This past Friday the boys were excited to be given their baseball caps and sweatshirt. They are all hoping for a great season full of learning and fun.

These junior high boys were thrilled to get their hoodies and ball caps in preparation for their inaugural season of baseball. From left: Colton Pedersen, Dominick Olson, Seth Zahnter, Alfred Obiero, Leyante Prince and Tyler Hill.
