Woods County Covid-19 numbers still rising

While active cases of Covid-19 are decreasing in Oklahoma, the numbers are still rising in most Woods County cities and town. The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) reports 76,107 active cases in the state on Feb. 3. A week ago, that number was 133,175. Across the state, those hospitalized with Covid-19 in the last 30 days are 74.1 percent unvaccinated individuals.

New counts for cities and towns are posted each Monday. On Jan. 31 Alva had 157 active cases of the coronavirus compared to 144 a week ago. Freedom increased from six to seven cases. Waynoka went down from 28 last week to 23 for this week. Dacoma was not listed last week since active cases below five are posted as zero. This week, Dacoma has six cases.

Bill Johnson Correctional Center in Alva has two positive cases, according to the Department of Corrections website. James Crabtree Correctional Center in Helena has six cases with one hospitalized.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University lists six students and four employees with Covid-19 as of the Friday, Jan. 28 report. Those numbers include all three campuses in Alva, Enid and Woodward.

In Alfalfa County, Cherokee has 34 active cases followed by 19 at Helena and ten at Carmen. Amorita has five cases.

In other area cities, Buffalo has 12 active cases, Fairview 99, and Woodward 324. Enid has 1,295 active cases as of Jan. 31.
