Joshua Luke Graves was born, October 9, 1975, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Russel and Rita (Carthrae) Graves. He attended South Barber schools where he met the love of his life, Jill (Jahay) and graduated in 1994. The foundation for his love of Jesus started at a young age when he was saved at vacation bible school and continued on at Bible Baptist Church in Alva, Oklahoma.

He enjoyed the country life north of Hardtner, Kansas, with his three siblings, Mariah (Doherty), Zach, and Zeb. They spent many hours together riding horses, fishing, building forts, and even cleaning dog kennels.
