District basketball playoffs were last week for the smaller schools in the area. In the Class A and Class B basketball brackets, a loss in the first game meant the end of the season. The winner and runner-up of the final game in each area advanced to regionals.
Class A
In the Class A districts, the Cherokee Chiefs defeated Woodland 36-31 Friday night in Cherokee. In the finals on Saturday, Laverne beat Cherokee 38-20, but both teams advanced. The Cherokee boys will play Prue Thursday at 3 p.m. in Garber.
