Covid-19 cases in Alva fall by nearly half

Active Covid-19 cases have decreased by almost half in the past week, according to data from the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH). As of Monday, Feb. 14, Alva is shown with 56 active cases compared to 110 the previous week. Freedom remains the same as last week with six cases. Dacoma and Waynoka have less than five cases as indicated by a zero in the data.

Bill Johnson Correctional Center in Alva has no active cases of the coronavirus according to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections while James Crabtree Correctional at Helena has two.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University reports one student with Covid-19 and no employees as of their Friday, Feb. 11, report. That number includes all three campuses in Alva, Enid and Woodward.

The state of Oklahoma active cases decreased from 39,043 last week to 14,994 this week.

In neighboring counties, Cherokee has six cases, Helena eight, Fairview nine, and Woodward 54. Enid has 317 active cases compared to 734 a week ago.
