David was called a man after God’s own heart. From the first encounter with David, we see his great faith and trust in God. He knows God will be with him as he faces Goliath. Later as he is being pursued by King Saul, David refuses to harm God’s anointed. In the Psalms we get a glimpse of David’s heart in his prayers.

But still we wonder how can a man who commits adultery and murder be considered to be “a man after God’s own heart”? When confronted with the truth of what he had done, he said “I have sinned against the Lord.” He did not deny or make excuses, he admitted the truth immediately. T...
