Walmart awards Alva Police Department $4,500; money will help upgrade equipment

The Alva Police Department is the happy recipient of a grant recently awarded by Walmart. The department qualified and received a $4,500 grant from the store as part of the company's community grant program, which focuses on meeting community needs by providing grants to local organizations, according to the website www.foundation.walmart.com. The police department plans to use the grant money to help with upgrading aging equipment.

Assistant Chief Patrick Hawley gave high remarks to Walmart, especially Alva's Walmart store manager, James Brinkley, and his associates for their ongoing partners...
