Covid numbers declining in Woods County

On Feb. 7, Alva had 110 active cases of Covid-19. That has now dropped to 13, according to data from the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH). Currently Dacoma, Freedom and Waynoka have 0-4 cases. The OSDH lists any number less than five as zero.

The risk level map for Oklahoma this week has one county in southeastern Oklahoma in green (the lowest risk level), 34 counties in yellow and 42 in orange. Woods County and all the adjoining counties have dropped to the yellow level.

In the surrounding counties, most county seats have a zero in the active cases column except for Woodward with 17. Enid in Garfield County has 69, down from 734 on Feb. 7.

Statewide counts have also decreased. On Feb. 7, Oklahoma had 39,043 active cases but on March 3 that number has dropped to 3,896.

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections website shows only three inmates in the state system with active Covid cases. Bill Johnson Correctional Center in Alva and James Crabtree Correctional in Helena have zero cases.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University has zero active cases of Covid-19 over all three campuses in Alva, Enid and Woodward as of Feb. 25.
