Our national parks, part 1

 


On March 1, 1872, President Ulysses S. Grant signed into law a bill creating Yellowstone National Park. Obviously, therefore, Yellowstone is now 150 years old; no one knows how old the land is that makes up the park!

Yellowstone is located primarily in northwestern Wyoming with small portions in two neighboring states. Rounded off, 96 percent of the park’s 3468 square miles of land is in Wyoming, 3 percent is in Montana, and 1 percent is in Idaho.
