Brayden Koenig earns GAC Player of the Week

 


ALVA, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State completed a three game sweep over Arkansas Monticello over the weekend, all three coming in comeback fashion. Part of those wins were propelled by Ranger sophomore hitting two grand slams in the series in outfielder Brayden Koenig.

Koenig won Great American Conference Player of the Week following his tremendous performance in the three wins for the Rangers. This is his first time earning this recognition this season along with Northwestern.

Koenig finished the week starting in all three games played finishing the week hitting .459 (5-11) with two walks, two home runs, a triple and 11 RBIs. The third game of the series he helped the Rangers to a 14-12 victory behind a three for three day at the plate with 6 runs batted in with a triple and a grand slam.

In game one of the three game series the Fargo, North Dakota native went 1-4 at the plate with an RBI single in the 6-4 victory over Arkansas Monticello helping the Rangers come from behind to win from a five run seventh inning.


The first game of the Sunday doubleheader the sophomore went 1-4 at the plate with a run scored, a grand slam, and four RBIs in the win including a grand slam that at the time pushed the Rangers in front for their first lead of the game.

The final game of the three game series Koenig went perfect at the dish with a three for three game including six RBI a run scored and his second grand slam of the season. The six RBI would help the Rangers to 14 runs the most this season in the 14-12 victory for their third straight win.
