Although there had been a rezoning request for two locations in Kiowa, Kansas, no member of the public appeared for a rezoning public hearing set 30 minutes prior to the 7 p.m. March Kiowa City Council meeting Monday.

Kiowa City Administrator Sam Demel confirmed the rezoning request was to change two properties from residential to commercial status. Those properties are the raised bed garden area owned by Jeff Bryan and the Simpson property where the 80-foot-tall white cross was erected as a gift to the community along 4th Street.
