Fatal plane crash near Pond Creek

The pilot and two passengers died in the crash of an aircraft Thursday in Grant County. All three occupants of the plane were from Nebraska.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, the plane crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. on County Road 870 north of Coal Road. The location is approximately nine miles southwest of Pond Creek.

The 1967 Piper PA-30 fixed wing multi-engine plane was piloted by William Lauber, 59, of Milford, Nebraska. Passengers were Christine Lauber, 58, of Milford, Nebraska, and Ragan Lauber, 21, of Lincoln, Nebraska. All were deceased at the scene.

The plane was seen falling out of the sky uncontrolled and struck the ground. The three occupants were extricated by Pond Creek Fire Department for the Medical Examiner’s Office. The crash is still under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
