Alva School Board to vote on hiring high school principal

The Alva Board of Education is hoping to hire a new high school principal for next year. On their agenda for Monday is discussion and action to approve an offer of employment to a candidate for the position. During this school year, Superintendent Tim Argo has taken on the responsibilities of high school principal with no salary increase for the extra duties. The other five administrators have taken on some extra duties to make this possible. The board will meet at 5 p.m. in the high school library.

Also on the agenda are offers of employment to two applicants to work as non-certified paraprofessionals for the remainder of this school year.

Board members will also be voting on approval of the summer drivers’ education program with Kandee Almgren as the instructor. The dates for the two sessions are May 23-27 and June 20-24. The board will also discuss and vote on charging a $200 fee for the drivers’ education course.

Contract renewals for the next school year for current principals are also on the agenda for approval.

Another agenda item is discussion and a possible vote to accept a bid and enter into a contract with Kyler Construction Group, Inc. to serve as construction manager for the upcoming facility improvements in the Alva School District.
