Burlington School Board of Education approves hiring of new head coach for the Burlington Elks

Dallas Hunt will take the helm of the boys’ basketball program. “We are very excited to welcome Coach Hunt to Burlington,” Superintendent Kevin Brown said. “It is an exciting time for Burlington basketball, and we believe we found the right coach to lead the program. Hunt has high energy and high expectations for himself and for the student athletes – on and off the court. Coach Hunt will be working with all levels of the boys’ basketball program while teaching in the classroom. He plans on instilling a culture of family, hard work, and being good at the little things in his program at Burlington.”

Hunt has been the assistant at Garber School over the past 5 years. During this time Garber has boasted a record of 119-26. During his tenure Garber won a state championship in the 2019-20 season, while earning state runner up in 2021-22, 2020-21 and another state appearance in 2018-19. “Coach Hunt brings a winning background with a passion for the game that just stood out to me during the entire process,” Principal Gerrett Spears stated.

Hunt is a 2015 Garber High School graduate. Following his time at Garber, Hunt continued his education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University and graduated with a degree in Psychology.

“I am extremely excited to join the Burlington family and become a part of the bright future for Burlington athletics,” “I am excited to meet the players, and begin working,” Hunt said.
