April 6, 2022
If you like to hear the beauty of soloists and small ensembles share their superior and excellent rated performances, plan on attending "A Fine Arts Afternoon." It's at South Barber High School in Kiowa, Kansas this Sunday at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. Not only can you listen to music, you can also watch the drama students who are preparing for their first One-Act play competition.
The new vocal teacher is Erin Place. Several of her students will perform their contest solos, a girls' trio and a small ensemble. Soloists Autumn Drake and Bianca Binning earned Is on their solos at regional competition last weekend and qualified to advance to state.
Drama Class teacher Meagan Henry said, "We'll showcase our One-Act play, 'A Simpler Time.' She described the play as a compilation of several comedies set around a group of teenagers traveling through time in search of simpler lives.
South Barber's One-Act cast will compete at the Regional Festival on Saturday, April 23. The One-Act rating system is similar to music contest where students receive either a I, II or III.
