South Barber Elementary presents spring concert; `It's a Hit' musical really a hit

When the South Barber K-4th grade students belted out the words, "Take me out to the ballgame," the crowd of family and friends loudly joined in singing the beloved tune. This was during the SB Elementary Spring Concert. The vocal part of the program was under the direction of new vocal teacher Erin Place. Longtime band director Jill Daughhetee, who is retiring at the end of the school year, directed the sixth-grade band. A favorite was vintage Mrs. Daughetee, "Big Beat Boogie."

Following the band, the fifth- and sixth-grade choir sang some humorous songs such as, "I've lost my Homework," and "It's in My Desk!"

The vocal teacher and accompanist Nikki Brattin led the youngest students in "It's a Hit!" It's described as, "A musical of Innings and Winnings," by John Jacobson and John Higgins.

After the concert, comments were made over and over about how nice it was to get to see the maskless children perform live after the Covid pandemic stopped all those fun activities the last few years.
