Jury finds Bell guilty of rape, child sexual abuse

 


Earl Wayne Bell II, now 41, was found guilty of first degree rape and child sexual abuse by a Woods County jury on Tuesday afternoon.

Bell who resided in Alva at the time was charged Aug. 21, 2018, with two counts of rape – first degree (by force or fear), one count of sexual abuse of a child under 12, and one count of sexual abuse of a child 12 years of age or older but under 18 years of age.

The trial began with jury selection Monday morning. After both sides made their cases, the jury began deliberation Tuesday afternoon. The jury returned a guilty verdict on each of the four counts and recommended life in prison on each of the charges.

Sentencing has been set for July 20 at 11 a.m.
