Exciting changes with the passing of school bond

Burlington School News

April 15, 2022

Burlington recently passed a school bond for 10.485 million big ones. Our school has been trying to pass this for a few years and I feel that it is something the school, community, and students need.

Covid had a big impact on how the students felt about school. I know, for me, it made it easy to forget and not worry about academics. I feel this bond is going to be beneficial for new students and students who have been here for a long time. We all lose encouragement and what is more enticing and exciting than your boring old school finally getting the upgrades it needs.

It is kind of a bummer as a senior, knowing it will all being built after I am gone. However, I am very excited to see how Burlington and the students attending advance in the future.

Some of the things mentioned in the bond are a new gym and fitness center along with a track. The FFA chapter will be getting a new greenhouse which is going to give ag students more opportunities and experience with different types of plants. The current locker rooms will be made into classrooms for the third and fourth grades. The little gym is going to be remodeled for a new cafeteria and kitchen, and all of this is set to be done by January of 2024.

Construction will begin in the fall of this year. Mr. Brown, the superintendent, says he feels “it is a valuable step to continue to grow and preserve the value of life in our community." I couldn't agree more.
