HAVEN, Kan. (AP) — Two people were being treated for minor injuries after an explosion and fire Thursday at a gas plant in central Kansas, officials said.

Crews were called to the Haven Midstream plant near Haven in Reno County about 1:15 p.m. Thursday. Haven is about 33 miles (53.11 kilometers) northwest of Wichita.

Reno County Emergency Manager Adam Weishaar said the two people were taken for treatment to Wichita hospitals for minor injuries, KWCH-TV reported.

There was no risk to public safety, Weishaar said.

A 2-mile radius around the plant was evacuated immediately after the explosion.
