Gerald was born near Avard, Oklahoma, on December 10, 1933 to Ralph and Ima (Beecher) Haltom and departed this life on April 11, 2022 at Share Medical Center in Alva, Oklahoma.

He was the fourth of six siblings. He was raised near Avard and graduated from high school in 1952. Gerald attended 1½ years of college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, then went to work at Shafer Radio and TV where he retired after 40 years as a TV repairman. He served in the Army and National Guard for four years.
