Freedom School Board suspends competitive athletics

Despite clearly being unhappy about the need to do so, the Freedom School Board of Education voted to suspend competitive athletics in the school for the 2022-23 school year – although they will revisit the topic at the beginning of the school year.

“I never thought I'd say this,” said board president Shane Morris, “but we don't have enough kids to do anything. The only place co-opping is Mooreland, but now we're down to one student. We're not going to have enough girls for high school basketball,” he said, and noted that there may be as many as five or six boys in high school wanting to play...
