April 29, 2022
ALVA, Okla. - Since 1987, Alva has hosted the annual Lt. Governor's Turkey Hunt to encourage economic development in the region. Eight such turkey hunts are held across Oklahoma each year.
For this event April 20-22, 18 hunters plus their companions traveled to Alva to participate in the hunt and learn about business opportunities in northwest Oklahoma. The hunt director Keith Rose and his committee did a fantastic job of hosting visitors.
The hunt in Alva this year hosted participants from Birmingham, Alabama; Chicago, Illionis; Louisville, Mississippi; Ft. Worth, Texas; Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Moore, Norman, and everywhere in between. Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell joined the hunters and other representatives of Alva at the dinner on Thursday evening, where he spoke about the importance of economic development in rural Oklahoma.
