Happy Mother's Day, ladies

To all the mothers in Heaven, including my mother, Hulda Scribner, and my mother-in-law, Shirley West, thank you for being there for us, and loving all children in spite of ourselves. Let me also wish all the fathers that do double duty a happy Mother's Day too. Single parents are very talented, because they have to do it all, and most do a good job of making productive adults.

Bubba got knots on his head when he suggested to his wife that she get the dishes, housecleaning, and clothes done on Saturday, so she could take Sunday off and enjoy herself.

Marione had a trip back in time with teacher's appreciation week in her Newsgram column this week. In no order of popularity, I remember Miss Duke, Ronald Meeks, Don Rudy, Parthina McCrady, Jim Fanning, Dorthia Barkett, Marjorie Cline, Wilma Coffman, Mrs. Shirley, and Jerry Brownrigg. There are more, but my mind needs to reset to teacher mode. I didn't realize it then, but they were all giving me the skills I needed to get through life. To all current educators, and my past educators, thank you for working so hard to give us the knowledge to make it in this crazy world.

The VFW is sponsoring a free fishing clinic May 14 for grades 2 through 8. Check in the Newsgram for more info, or RSVP at 580-732-0493. Sounds like fun for all, and thanks to the VFW for making it possible.

In Kiowa, Kansas, a unique garden project is underway. Bryan's Community Box Garden is beginning to take shape. When it is up and running and producing vegetables, they will be free to those that can use them. From a guy that will probably never pick a tomato there, thanks to the Jeff Bryan family and all the volunteers for this great service for the community.

Praise the Lord and pass the buttermilk, I have a title for the Lexus. After having no luck with the previous owner, I went through the courts. What a blast! I started December 3 last year and got my title May 5. Between long court dates, inept state employees (not local), and a comedy of errors, it just took 5 months to get ownership of my car. With the "everything happens to me and Dick Tracy" luck, I will probably run into a deer first time I go somewhere.

Happy birthday to my brother Jeff; he is officially an old fart today. Also, happy belated birthday to my daughter-in-law Grace. Last week was her birthday.

I am enjoying the rain, such as it is, so let's all pray for more rain.

Let's be safe out there, and God bless one and all.
