"We were not wanting to let it die," Teresa MacKinney said. "We hated to see the Kiowa community lose this event,"Gayle McNett said.
The duo officially grabbed the baton from Kiowa's Labor Day 5K Race founder Kent McBrayer. A few weeks ago McBrayer put a notice in the Newsgram that the race could no longer occur due to no one stepping up to assume the role as director of the 36 year event.
McNett said she read that notice and decided "I want to step up." She texted her friend MacKinney with the idea to be co-directors and without hesitation she said yes.
