Alva drops to 11 active Covid cases, Waynoka has 5

Active Covid-19 cases in Alva have dropped by four, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) weekly report. The July 14 report shows Alva with 11 active cases, down from 15 last week. However, Waynoka now has five active Covid cases after showing none last week. Dacoma is listed at zero, but the OSDH lists any number below five as zero. Freedom has no number which may indicate no cases.

In area county seats, Buffalo and Cherokee both show zero current cases. Fairview has 20, down from the 26 last week. Woodward is listed with 47, up from 34 last week. Enid currently has 113 active cases, up from 88 a week ago.

On a map showing the past four weeks, Woods County has had 42 cases, the same as last week. Using the county population, the cases per 100,000 of population in Woods County would be 478.

Alfalfa County has had eight cases in the last four weeks. That’s 140 cases per 100,000 of population. With 10 cases, Harper County is at 271 per 100,000. Woodward County has 118 cases for the last four weeks, 584 per 100,000. Major County had 84 cases, 1101 per 100,000. Garfield County had 243 cases, 398 per 100,000 of population.

Based on active cases and population, the map on the OSDH website shows higher risk counties in green. Of the northwest Oklahoma counties listed above, Major County is the only one in green.
